Unit Details:
6th Cavalry Regiment was assembled near Minden, Louisiana, in January, 1864. The unit was assigned to the Trans-Mississippi Department and saw light action in Louisiana. Later it operated a courier-line between Camden, Arkansas and Alexandria, Louisiana. In March, 1865, the regiment was patrolling along the west bank of the Mississippi River, then disbanded.
